President Barack Obama’s statement that Israel is America’s greatest friend is an outrageous and cynical lie—because almost no other nation on earth has committed such monstrous treason against a “friend” than Israel.

From the creation of the Zionist state, Israel has spied upon, tricked and even physically attacked America and Americans.

Perhaps one of the most dramatic examples of this Israeli treason came when Israel awarded medals to the Zionist agents who made terrorist attacks against American sites in Egypt hoping to provoke an American war with Egypt.

In ceremonies reported by the major Israeli daily newspaper, Haaretz, Israeli President Moshe Katsav stated the following at a ceremony honoring the Jewish terrorists who attacked American facilities:

“Although it is still a sensitive situation, we decided now to express our respect for these heroes,” President Moshe Katzav said after presenting the three surviving members of the bomber ring with certificates of appreciation at a Jerusalem ceremony.

In the Lavon Affair, named for the Israeli Defense Minister at the time, Pinhas Lavon, the Israeli government launched a false flag, terrorist operation against American sites in Egypt hoping to provoke American bombing, retaliation and war against that nation.

The Israeli terrorists targeted American sites such as American Cinemas and American libraries around Cairo. Only the premature detonation of one of the Jewish terrorist’s bombs led to the exposure and halt of the plot before the extensive loss of life and property.

If this terrorist operation would have been successful, not only would it have cost many American lives, it would have launched an American war against an innocent nation which in turn would have caused the death of many thousands of innocent American and Egyptian lives as well as untold billions of dollars.

Israel’s terrorist plot against the United States in the Lavon Affair was one greatest acts of treachery that any nation has ever committed against an ongoing ally.

Shockingly, this was only the first Israeli act of treachery against the nation that stood by Israel more than any other: America. There have repeated acts of Israeli terrorism and treachery against the United States of America.

In 1967, Israel attacked the USS Liberty with both fighter jets and torpedo boats in a surprise terrorist attack that killed 34 Americans and wounded 173.

Both the U.S. Secretary of State at the time, Dean Rusk, and the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Thomas Moorer, both have stated that it was a pre-meditated attack against the United States.

In the Jonathan Pollard case, an Israeli spy devastated America’s Eastern European Intelligence Network, and Israel honors Pollard today as a hero and lobbies for his release from American prison.
Important figures in the Israeli lobby AIPAC, the most powerful lobby in Washington, D.C., have been extensively investigated by the FBI for spying against the United States.

These facts should obviously be a huge story in America’s press, but it is suppressed in the Jewish dominated American media.

Yusuf al-Qaradawi

Allow me to introduce the Egyptian cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, one of the most prominent Sunni Islamic scholars in the world.

You may remember him from 2008, when he was refused a visa to visit Britain after the Home Office said it would not tolerate the presence of those seeking to justify acts of terrorist violence; during a visit to London four years earlier, al-Qaradawi had referred to suicide attacks on Israelis as “martyrdom in the name of God” in an interview with the BBC.

But al-Qaradawi, although undeniably rather extreme by Western standards, is a complex figure. On the one hand, he has referred to the Holocaust as “divine punishment” which “put the Jews in their place”; supports attacks on Israeli civilians; has a longstanding hatred of the Shia (though he supports Hizbollah as they are sworn enemies of Israel); and has condoned the death sentence – in principle at least – for Muslims who turn their backs on the religion. On the other hand, he has denounced as “extremists” those who hold more extreme views than he does, opposes the notion of theocracy, supports the notion of democracy in the Middle East, and called upon Muslims to donate blood in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

The list goes on. Al-Qaradawi accepts “wife beating” as a “method of last resort”, yet stipulates it should only be done “lightly” and not on the face or other sensitive areas. He supports the practice of female circumcision, yet – strangely – only when it does no permanent harm. He believes that homosexuals and adulterers should be put to death, yet is clear in his belief that a raped woman has no culpability. He condemned the violence that followed the Danish cartoons of Muhammad in 2005, yet he endorsed the fatwa on Salman Rushdie. Al-Qaradawi may be extreme, but his position is more nuanced than many other clerics.

The Sheikh has been awarded numerous prizes for his work on Islamic theology, and is one of the most senior voices allied to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Most importantly of all, he broadcasts regularly on Al Jazeera to an audience of tens of millions, making him a profoundly influential figure.

This week, in a televised sermon on Qatar TV, he took the step of defining the foremost enemies of Arabs. Israel and the United States were not mentioned; instead, he said that “Russia has become the number one enemy of Islam and Muslims because it stood against the Syrian people; more than 30,000 Syrians have been killed by the weapons supplied by Russia.” He added that Iran and China, in supporting the Assad regime, formed an axis of enmity towards the Arabs, and he called upon the Security Council to enforce a no-fly zone over Syria, just as it had done in Libya.

These allegiances and rivalries are not new. What is worth remarking upon, however, is the strength of the language used against Russia, China and Iran. Last week I commented on the article written by Abdulateef al-Mulhim, the former commodore of the Saudi Navy, which laid out the controversial argument that “the Arab world has many enemies, and Israel should have been at the bottom of the list.” In addition to citing the “enemies” of corruption, poor education, inadequate healthcare and so on, he pointed to “dictators” such as Assad in Syria as creating far more suffering and oppression than Israel and the West. Al-Qaradawi is nowhere near as explicit as the Saudi, but in his preoccupation with the threat posed by Russia, China and Iran, he is strengthening the narrative of conflict between a burgeoning “Persian empire” and the Arabs, and relegating that of a struggle between Muslims and Israel. He also implicitly aligns with increasing firmness the interests of the Arab world with those of the West, and even, to some extent, with Israel.

The Arab Spring has highlighted as never before the deep divisions, injustices and clashes of ideology inherent within the Islamic world. As the movement’s centre of gravity becomes entrenched in Syria, the geopolitical dynamics of the region are shifting. Coalition forces will soon be withdrawing from Afghanistan, and Israeli elections are looming; Netanyahu will almost certainly win, but it is not impossible for new alliances to form between the Likud and some of the centre-Left parties, which may inject a note of moderation into government policy. Within the next ten years, we may be surprised by an emerging prospect for a tentative peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and new allegiances forming around the globe. It may be in the Islamic countries that peace becomes more elusive

The Occupy movement has united hundreds of thousands across the world to fight social and economic inequality. Julian Assange meets with prominent Occupy activists who say their collective efforts target global institutions.

¬The stand-off between large financial institutions and those who call themselves the 99% was brought about by the financial crisis, which revealed serious gaps in the current system, David Graeber from Occupy New York explained, pointing out that “the revolt is always in the name of democracy.”

“There is the first really effective planetary bureaucracy which is created in the name of the sort of ‘free-market’ ideology, which is supposed to stand against it, bureaucracy, but in fact exactly the opposite,” he says.

Aaron Peters from Occupy London adds that social movements are “always born out of grievance” and what is happening now would be impossible without the global financial crisis.
Activists say the movement has come about at the right moment, when there is an immediate necessity to unite to stand for the economic and social rights of the majority.
“There’s a feeling out there that the enemy is becoming increasingly globalized, and the only way it can be challenged is by global movements,” Graeber said.

Although it is economic and social inequality that are named as the main causes behind Occupy, Alexa O’Brien from Occupy in New York and US Day of Rage says it is not just about the global financial crisis but also about a global political crisis – because “institutions are no longer functional.”
Peters agreed, saying that political failure is a global phenomenon.

“We now recognize that public policy outcomes aren’t happening at the national level, and that policy makers aren’t actually the ones who are in national parliaments. They are elsewhere, and the ones that are dictating policy aren’t any way accountable, or, you know, they are not democratic representatives,” he said.

Although Occupy came into being in the United States, the activists are certain that the preconditions of the movement can be traced back to the Arab Spring and to turbulence in Europe.
“There has been a sort of global movement that started in Tunisia and swept across the Mediterranean: Greece, Spain. So it’s really the same movement that hit America,” Graeber declared.
Activists also emphasized the collective nature of the international protest, saying that the movement was born out of the solidarity and cooperative efforts of many enthusiasts across the world with people from Spain, Egypt and other countries flying to the US to take part in Occupy Wall Street.
